As “reflective practitioners,” they are involved in an ongoing process of knowledge acquisition, communal reflection and practical testing. Through our partnership with Columbia International University (USA), our Master’s programmes are accredited in Germany and internationally recognized, with the seal of the German Accreditation Council. Alumni of CIU Korntal are active – also in leadership positions – in international NGOs, mission organizations, churches and in the private sector.
3. Credible and engaged in dialog
Participation in God’s mission can happen abroad and next door – both require an understanding of the respective context. The rich, intercultural practical experience of lecturers and fellow students constantly open up new perspectives for other ways of thinking and living. This enables students to engage in dialogue in order to live the gospel in a credible and understandable way.
4. Spiritual breadth and depth
What always fascinates people at the AWM is the wide range of life stories and spiritual backgrounds of our students and lecturers. Christians meet here who are diverse in their congregational, professional and geographical backgrounds. This diversity broadens horizons – with Jesus Christ as the unifying center and God’s word as the foundation. The AWM is affiliated with the Lausanne Movement and the Evangelical Alliance.

Studying at CIU Korntal can also be done online. This allows students to integrate their studies into their everyday working and family life and enables them to participate worldwide. It is not uncommon for people who live and work on different continents to meet in our virtual classrooms. Our lecturers also have a broad perspective thanks to their international life and practical experience.

For more than 30 years, there has been close cooperation with Columbia International University (CIU), based in South Carolina (USA). CIU has been training people for intercultural and theological ministry since 1923 and thus shares the core mission and concerns of AWM Korntal. This has resulted in a proven educational partnership and trusted cooperation.
The joint study programs operate under the name CIU Korntal. We offer North American degrees that follow North American standards in all framework conditions and specifications. The Master’s degree programs are also accredited in Germany.
Students who study with us are simultaneously enrolled at CIU and can access various resources online or take individual online courses. You can also meet some CIU lecturers in our courses.
